Immersive Installations
Here are some examples of immersive installations I’ve been involved in creating recently. These involve projection on a large scale and creating content to suit various challenges, whether it’s embracing quirky architechture, telling forgotten-about stories, or making a retro Liverpool-inspired pixel-art version of the ‘90s snake game to celebrate Lunar New Year (that one’s quite specific).
Lunar New Year – Year of the Snake
'Legends of Spring'
Bombed Out Church
Liverpool
This immersive projection-mapped experience was a collaboaration with Focal Studios and Pagoda Chinese Communtiy and Youth Centre, drawing inspiration from 8-bit games and the '90s game 'Snake'. It tells a story of the birth of the cosmos, as celestial pillars are repaired and harmony restored by the goddess Nüwa. It journeys through a vibrant mountain landscape, where ecological balance is unlocked through gameplay, followed by a magnificent transformation as a jade snake becomes a dragon, spiralling through Liverpool's iconic landmarks and joining a festive parade that features lanterns based on 8-bit drawings done in local schools.

Croome – National Trust
'Rapturous Delight'
Croome Court
Worcester
To mark the 200th anniversary of the 'Hortus Croomensis' – a rare and
remarkable record of one of Georgian England's most
signficant gardens, I worked with a
writer, an
illustrator
and a
sound designer
to create this 5-part, 10-minute immersive projection for Croome's Long
Gallery.
The installation explores the grounds at Croome, told from the
perspective of William Dean, the head gardener for 40 years from 1796;
shows the changing seasons through the view from inside the orangery
with an original song performed by Chloë Foy; tells a Christmas story
about the plants at Croome, educates about the origins of Croome's
collection of 6000 species, and crescendos with an exploration of the
intricate patterns found all over the walls of the Long Gallery and
brings them to life.

The Lowry – 25th Anniversary
'One Lowry, Many Stories'
The Lowry
Salford
This 25th anniversary celebration experience involved creating content
for a custom-built box situated in the Lowry's foyer, projecting onto 3
sides. It celebrates the stories of artists, volunteers, staff, visitors
and local residents, featuring the recorded voices and memories of over
40 people from the Salford Digital Archives.
My role involved animating 8 'movements' to accompany this soundscape,
including creating 3D cut-out scenes from archive photographs, 3D depth
illusions, creating virtual environemnts of the Lowry's three theatre
spaces, filming and augmenting drone videography with visual effects,
and creating particle systems responding to a model of the Lowry.

Osterley – National Trust
'Marigold Festival'
Osterley House
London
To celebrate Diwali, alongside illuminations and marigold displays, we created this projection-mapped installation on the ceiling of the Great Hall to celebrate the festival of lights. I worked with artist and animator Prashanti Aswani to bring the ceiling to life, augmenting her hand-drawn illustrations with dynamic light effects and 3D particle renders simulating the floating marigold petals across the water, helping capture the feeling of celebration.
